  • September 2009

Not sure why, if I love this venue for expressing myself, I neglect to use my xanga.

It's almost time for me to get back into some sort of schedule.  Sunday School lessons to prepare, music lessons to teach, sister's classes to attend and prepare for and exercise in some form really needs to begin after a summer of slackness.

One difference is I don't have to think about preparing anything for the DD to do for her school this year unless she wants some direction.  I think we're done and if DD wants to carry on she is welcome.  There were a few things she wanted to keep working at and another biology textbook she'd like to work on but for the most part she can do these on her own.  If she wants her certificate it's not too difficult to get time-wise or financially.  Her primary goal is to get a job to go visit all the wonderful people she knows world over.  Oz, Quito, CA, England - some of these places are on my list of places to visit, too, so hopefully we can do these things together - certainly her father will want her travelling with other people as do I.

Summer 2009 has been a good one though DD was gone for 6 weeks of it on Truth Corps and I missed her terribly.  I did keep busy with attending the study weekend in Sask., volunteering at Kid's camp, visiting PG where my parents are and Kamloops where good friends live, attending a wedding in Maple Ridge and I was blessed to be able to attend two Bible schools back to back as well as enjoy all sorts of company coming to stay with us or just dropping in for a visit.

The weather has cooled off considerable for which I am grateful.  I am a northern girl after all and can only put up with so much heat before I start to melt.  It has been quite nice to smell the air after the rain has wiped all smoke from the forest fires away and washed the dust off everything.  My brain is more active and therefore I want to be more active.

So here's to a wonderful fall with it's new schedules to plan and follow.

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."  Ecc. 9:10

1 Co. 20-26:  "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.  For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.  But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.  Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.  For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death."

Brilliant weekend.  Many hours driving...let's see there and back 30 hours approximately on the road for 3 days of study and fellowship.  Worth it?  You betcha!  The King's Manifesto for Life was the title.  Jim Cowie was the presenter.  So much to absorb.  So much left to change.  Summary?  We have to empty ourselves of our fleshly desires and fill ourselves with the character of Jesus who represented his Father on this earth.  Simple?  NOT!!  But it's worth it to keep trying because the effort will reap rewards now and in the time to come.  How I long to have this vile body with it's ugly human nature to be changed into something incorruptible, living forever and becoming part of His glory.

"....we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:  Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.  Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved."   Phil. 3:20-4:1

  • Nearing the end...

We are gearing up in this household for Friday and Saturday.  Thomas heads back home for the final time after completing his second year carpentry course and seems to me he is going to get a really good grade.  This will help offset his accident on the weekend in Vancouver where he dented his hood and broke the right light.  Lady in front jammed on her brakes in front of him and he didn't  have enough notice to stop.  Fortunately no one was going too fast and no one got hurt...though the lady and passenger are suggesting they have whiplash!  People these days.  We'll see how this effects his insurance.  If he pays cash for the wee scratch on the lady's SUV he'll not have any changes or extra charges.

On Saturday, Jamie leaves for California with one stop in Seattle.  She will be gone for 6 weeks on Truth Corps and while I will miss the darling, she will have such a wonderful time dedicated to serving our Father in heaven.  The team will be such a boost to the ecclesias they're visiting and the bond she'll develop with them will last a lifetime and more.

So both kids gone within two days.  Can you say 'empty nest'?  At least the daughter is coming back for a while longer.  I guess I'm in training to see how wisely I'll spend my time.

I will stay happy and busy with other people's kids!  That's the solution!

About Me

  • I'm a Christadelphian. I have a husband, a terrific, married son and beautiful daughter-in-law and one lovely teenaged daughter whom I still homeschool. My daughter introduced me to xanga and now I'm enjoying meeting all kinds of like minded folk of all ages and I have been uplifted by the usually positive, spiritual comments.
